Great Scot International is the US distributor for the Irish County Tartans range of merchandise introduced by the House of Edgar, Perth Scotland in the mid 1990’s. With a tartan designed for every county of Ireland it is possible to link your ancestral identity to the county of your forebears by wearing a tie, scarf, cap or vest made in the tartan dedicated to that county. Many of the older Scottish tartans were adopted by Scottish clans or families but with a few exceptions this tradition did not evolve with the people of Ireland. An Irish County Tartan is a unique answer to this problem. An extensive study of Irish surnames was commissioned by House of Edgar who published the results in a small booklet and created a map cross referencing surnames to each county.
